Modern ... oh how I love thee!

Before I started school at LDS Business College I didn't really appreciate Modern furniture and architecture. Then I took Modern Furnishings (taught my Miles Hunsaker) for a whole semester and started LOVING modern furniture. And then ... my love faded ... and now it's BACK! Since I am working on a project for a client right now that LOVES modern it has forced me to get out into Salt Lake and search. Thanks to Tracy Goff (a designer at EK Studios) I found a few great places to visit today. I was very pleased with what I found and my love for modern is returning rapidly. I'm not sure why it ever left but I think it's here to stay. Below are a few pieces that I really liked.

This Eames beauty is my favorite for sure. It was priced under $800 (knock-off) of course. I really wanted to take it home with me.

Also ... I found another website today (Salt Lake based) that discusses all things modern. I definitely spent a good hour on this site today. www.grassrootsmodern.com

Space Saving

I am working with a client on a unique project. She is a massage therapist who has recently moved her practice back into her home. Her front room is 22” x 12” (fairly long and skinny). The front room is where she currently works on her clients and it’s this room where I am trying to develop a place where she can live and work at the same time.

Today I went to Ikea to do some browsing for the project. I haven’t had much luck on the internet. Most of the searches take me to furniture that doesn’t seem to even have a manufacturer. Although if I was living in a small apartment I would think a few of these contraptions would be pretty cool.

I did find a few things at Ikea that I thought might work.Ikea was pretty fun though. I looked at it in a whole new light today. I love all the little rooms set up. My favorites are the really small apartments that I wish I could try and live in for a day. Not sure why I want to but living in a really small place might be fun … for a minute.

What space saving furniture do you love?

2nd place - Residential!

What an amazing night I had last Thursday. I took 2nd place at the LDSBC Portfolio Event. I can't express how happy I was and surprised all at the same time. It was so great to have family and friends there supporting me. Thank you all. More pics w/ thoughts to come.

Getting closer ... another sneak peak

I am about 95% finished with this project and I look forward to showing before and after pictures. For now ... another small sneak peak.

I think I finally found it!

I've been looking for a fun task/office chair for my client Chelsey. I've been trying REALLY hard to find something more feminine and a little funky and I think I finally found it. Thanks ZGallerie! :)

Another sneak peak!

This time I am working on a fun contemporary/transitional Living Room. Only a few things are set in stone so I am excited to see where this project goes. Thanks Becky. It has been really fun so far!

A sneak peak ...

I'm excited to post about a small project I've been working on. Due to the location and my school craziness I haven't been able to get as far as I want on this project. We (my client and I) are moving along though and hope to have a super cute finished project soon!

CUBICLE HELL … or HEAVEN?

About 10 days ago a class of mine at school took a fieldtrip to Midwest Interiors, a local Steelcase vendor. Steelcase carries some great products (see the pictures and link below). I’ve spent a lot of my life in a cubicle, okay only 4 years but seems a lot longer. Some of those times were really rough. Sitting everyday for 8 hours a day really takes a toll on your body. I sat in a chair at Midwest called the Leap chair and it felt like GREAT. Steelcase has a few competitors around town and one I interned with (CCG Howells) who is a major Haworth supplier. Anyone else wish their cubicle looked like these Steelcase ones?

FRESH

I’m ready for spring. It seems as if I am constantly being drawn towards the bright colors. I love both of these rooms. Now don’t you wish spring was here too?
